HMP Dodds will be home to Fabian Peter Cherubim for the next six months.
That was the sentence imposed on the Murray Land, Black Rock, St Michael resident, when he went before acting Magistrate Elwood Watts yesterday.
A vendor, Cherubim pleaded guilty to five August 15 traffic violations in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court yesterday.
He had no road tax for his vehicle MD 1716, the car was not insured, not registered with the Licensing Authority, it carried fraudulent license plates and Cherubim himself had no driver’s license.
The facts revealed that Cherubim bought a car from someone more than a year ago and had been driving it ever since, without meeting any of the afore-mentioned criteria.
Additionally, he had an unpaid $750 fine imposed on him by another magistrate which carried a July 31, 2015 deadline. That fine was paid on Wednesday.
Watts determined that only a custodial sentence would suffice, since he felt that the offences were grave, Cherubim had previous convictions for similar offences and seemingly had an unwillingness to pay imposed fines; having only done so when it was time to face the court again.
Although Cherubim admitted being delinquent in paying the fine, he apologized and urged the court not to imprison him. Those pleas fell on deaf ears.
The acting magistrate also disqualified Cherubim from holding any class of drivers’ license for a period of two years.
