Last month, 18-year-old Steffan Gibbons was placed on a bond to keep the peace for one year.
At the time, he had confessed to stealing a $1 592. 60 bicycle belonging to Alair Hunte on September 25.
The alternative which Magistrate Wanda Blair gave Gibbons was a forthwith $500 fine or one month in prison.
The teen, of no fixed place of abode, clearly did not see it as an opportunity to stay out of trouble because he returned before her yesterday on two other charges.
Gibbons has pleaded guilty to stealing a cellular phone and a driver’s licence – which together were valued $620 – belonging to Trevor Burnett. He also stole a Stihl weedwacker and a gasoline container, with $12 worth of gasoline inside, from Sonia Henry. Those items were valued $2 037.
Station Sergeant Carrison Henry told the court that Burnett had his phone and wallet in his vehicle, which was parked beside his house, when he noticed the items were missing.
The other complainant, Sonia Henry, parked her vehicle by an establishment in Speightstown and went inside. One of her car windows was slightly down. By the time she returned to her vehicle, the items were gone.
When video footage was reviewed, it showed Gibbons close to her car. He later confessed to committing both thefts.
Magistrate Blair imposed the $500 fine for breaching the bond but Gibbons could not pay the fine.
He therefore has to serve the month in prison, along with one year for each theft. The sentences will run concurrently.
