A bailiff appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this morning, accused of stealing $27 899. 50 belonging to the Crown in its right as the Government of Barbados.
Stellene Modestene Alleyne, 52, of East Point, St Philip, was not required to plead to the charge, which Magistrate Douglas Frederick read to her. The offence allegedly occurred between November 7, 2014 and November 3 this year.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Neville Reid, did not object to bail, but asked for Alleyne to surrender her travel documents. Alleyne was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 and told to reappear in court on February 10, 2016.
Attorney-at-law Sean Lewis is representing the accused.
