COURT TODAY BLOCKThe last time Terry Alfonzo Herbert appeared in court, he was sent to the Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation.

Today, the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court heard that he was now fit to plead and he did so.

Herbert, of no fixed place of abode, admitted to intentionally damaging Carl-Ann Boyce’s car.

Magistrate Douglas Frederick sentenced the 44-year-old car washer to six months in jail for committing the offence.

According to the facts which Station Sergeant Neville Watson presented, the incident occurred close to 11 p.m. on November 22 when Boyce was in her car waiting to pick up someone in the area of the Bridgetown Port.

Herbert came and stood in front of the vehicle. Feeling fearful, Boyce raised her car window but Herbert then went to the back of the vehicle. She drove off, circled the area and came back but the person she was waiting for, still not ready. The driver did not see the accused at the time so she parked her car.

Minutes later she glanced into her rear view mirror and saw Herbert standing at the back of the car holding a piece of wood. He hit the car, damaging a rear light, as well as the trunk and fender in the process. Boyce drove off again and reported the matter to police. The damage was valued at $1, 267. 71.

The following day she was on her way to work when she saw Herbert again and notified the police. He was arrested.

Boyce said today that he only remembers hitting a brake light but nothing else, since he was off his medication at the time.

Herbert has several previous convictions.
