COURT TODAY BLOCKA 59-year-old man must come up with $1 000 within the next six weeks or he will have to spend three months behind bars at HMP Dodds.

Hartford Llewellyn James, of Greenidge Road, Hindsbury Road, St Michael, pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of 1.5 grammes of cannabis, possession of 7 grammes of cocaine, trafficking the cocaine and intent to supply.

The unemployed man went before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court .

According to the facts of the case, police were patrolling along Roebuck Street on November 21 when they saw James riding a

bicycle. He looked towards them and began fidgeting with one of his shirt pockets.

They stopped him, spoke to him and during this time found a marijuana wrapping in his pocket.

Police also noticed that James was clenching his left fist and, on opening it, he had a plastic bag with a small amount of cocaine inside it.

James told them that it “was only a 10-piece I got”.

The repeat offender was fined $500 on the count of possession of cocaine and $500 on the count of intent to supply. He was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the other two offences.
