COURT TODAY BLOCKBy March 25 next year, a ZR driver who hit another in the face with a plastic bottle of cran-water will know exactly how much compensation he has to pay the victim.

McDonald Tyrone Lascelles, of 33 St Anne’s Road, Pinelands, St Michael, pleaded guilty during a previous court appearance to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Malcolm Lewis on September 20.

When the matter came up again today in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, Lewis produced receipts showing that he has incurred over $1 200 in medical expenses to date.

Lewis said he has to return to the doctor in March. He also mentioned having to see an eye specialist and having to get glasses as well.

Based on this information, Magistrate Frederick determined that he would not conclude the matter today. He reminded Lewis to bring all of his receipts next time.

“And the eye drops?” Lewis asked.  Elaborating, he said: “the doctor tell me I got to use eye drops for life.”

Addressing Lascelles, Magistrate Frederick reminded him that “all this time you should be saving up money.”  “Don’t spend all for Christmas,” he warned.

Both Lascelles and Lewis will return to court on March 25 when Lewis is expected to be fully compensated. The incident occurred at the Nursery Drive Terminal in the City after the two drivers had an argument.
