A Christ Church man appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court late yesterday afternoon on 11 fraud charges.
Noel Lionel Taylor, 38, of Maxwell Hill, Christ Church, is accused of dishonestly obtaining several items from Unicomer (Barbados) Limited, trading as Courts, between November 4 and 19 this year.
The salesman, who appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, was remanded to HMP Dodds.
The items allegedly obtained were three laptop computers and one cellular phone. He also attempted to get a television from Unicomer while assuming the identity of Romel Thomas and $12 000 in cash from Globe Finance Incorporated. The items, valued around $19 000 all together, were allegedly obtained while Taylor assumed the identities of not only Thomas, but Andrew Leo Watson, Christopher Mark Alleyne and Michael James Marshall.
He is also charged with one count of having articles likely to be used for criminal deception, those being a Barbados driver’s licence and identification card in the name of Romel Thomas.
The objections against bail from Station Sergeant Neville Watson were based on the nature and seriousness of the charges, the fact that the accused was already on bail for 2011 offences and that the current 11 matters spanned three jurisdictions.
Another person was being sought in connection with the offences as well, the prosecutor said.
Taylor returns to the District ‘A’ Court on December 17. He will attend District ‘C’ Court on November 25 and District ‘B’ Court the following day.
